Kadena American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is organizing the Third Annual American Red Cross Derby Day Fundraiser, “Racing to the Rescue.” This is our largest fundraiser of the year which provides support for our volunteer programs, including Emergency Communications, Disaster Action Team Response, Health and Safety programs, and community support programs. In 2010, 109 adult and 85 youth volunteers contributed over 16,200 hours of service which saved the military over $337,700. While these volunteers provided services to the community, they were rewarded with the satisfaction of contributing to the health and welfare of their community, developing social and professional skills, experiencing different work environments, and learning new skills that translate into rewarding professional careers. These programs are made possible by the generous contributions of the American military communities they serve. Without these contributions from the local community, some of the services currently provided would not be available. In order to maintain this level of service, we are requesting your assistance by sponsoring one or more derby cars.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 at this fundraiser, and we need your assistance. Through your help, we will be able to continue with our mission—to help our community prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

You may be approached by a member of one of the racing teams requesting sponsorship. If you agree to sponsor a derby car, your logo can be placed on the derby car and be very visible prior to and during the race. In addition, we will provide you with a sign to post in your area indicating you sponsored a derby car to benefit American Red Cross Volunteer Programs and Services. This is a great advertising opportunity for you, and we encourage you to consider sponsoring at least one derby cart, if not more. We ask that a minimum of fifty dollars ($50) be contributed towards each car you want to sponsor. This money will be used to benefit the American Red Cross-Kadena Station and not for materials or building the derby car. If you are unable to provide sponsorship, please consider a donation to the American Red Cross-Kadena Station.
